After years of enduring ill-fitted and outdated aprons, Gary Nguyen and Joseph Johnson found inspiration to overhaul the design, crafting a multifaceted, modern apron more aligned with their daily kitchen demands. Fueled by their passion for innovation, Gary and Joseph envisioned an apron that not only hugged the body like bespoke attire but also offered practicality and convenience in the bustling kitchen environment. Their ambition was to create the ultimate apron, and thus, Cork District’s brand emerged, meticulously handcrafted to provide mobility, style, and seamless access to essential utility tools.”

Joseph Johnson

“Chef Joseph began his professional career at the age of 16, washing dishes at a hotel restaurant near his hometown of Petersburg, VA. Bored with that task, the teenager persuaded the chefs and line cooks to let him do more in the kitchen, and Johnson eventually worked his way up to executive chef at the hotel before he even turned 19. Joe was also honored in 2016 as part of the culinary game changers in Zagat’s 30 under 30.
